New Watermaker Products Debut at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

Innovative Water Systems Prevent Contamination & Provide Ultra-Pure Water

Clear MateBlue Water Desalination (BWD) debuted their latest technologies in water systems specifically designed for the marine market at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November of 2015.

BWD’s industry-leading Clear-Mate Fresh Water Reverse Osmosis System utilizes the same technology as the Blue Water Desalination sea water reverse osmosis systems to provide ultra-pure water. The water produced from the Clear-Mate removes up to 99% of the total dissolved solids leaving little residue when it dries and a virtually spot-free surface. Notable product features include low power consumption, quiet operation, and optional pH neutralizer filter. Available in 2,000 and 3,000 gallon per day capacities, the Clear-Mate is offered in two configurations:

  • “Double Pass” system with an integral tank that can be fed directly from your sea water reverse osmosis system to produce ultra-pure product water
  • Standard system that can be fed from dock water or the boat’s water storage tank

Legend LX for NOAABlue Water Desalination recently supplied a Legend LX watermaker for installation aboard the NOAA research vessel Gordon Gunter. The Legend LX is a fully automatic reverse osmosis desalination system and has a capacity of 3,200 Gallons per day. BWD’s engineers modified the standard LX to meet some unique requirements of the NOAA ship. These included the addition of a Pulsation Dampener to the high pressure pump and a membrane cleaning loop and tank.

About the Gordon Gunther

Blue Water Watermakers Create the World’s Largest Watering Hole

Blue Water Desalination LegendThe Ship’s Systems feature of the latest issue of Marlin Magazine (March ’15) covers the brilliance of having an on board watermaker that uses reverse osmosis technology to turn salty sea water into pure potable water that is actually cleaner than most municipal and dock water supplies!

The World’s Largest Watering Hole

With a Watermaker, the Ocean Becomes a Limitless Supply of Freshwater

Once considered an extravagant option aboard a sport-fishing boat, watermakers are pretty much standard equipment today, with many boats even utilizing two units. Having a steady supply of potable water to shower, cook, live aboard and wash the boat with at the end of the day is a huge benefit. Converting salt water to fresh via the reverse-osmosis process gives you virtually mineral-free water, so it is far less damaging to topcoat finishes and Isinglass curtains than city or dock water. It’s also better for ice machines and the entire freshwater system. (more…)
